Chic Treat Club in aid of the Tricia McCarthy Memorial Fund

Chic Treat Club have gone above and beyond this month. Another month and another box that hasn’t disappointed, definitely one of the best beauty subscription boxes around.

As it’s Breast Cancer Awareness month Chic Treat Club along with Triona McCarthy have created a box in aid of the Tricia McCarthy Memorial Scholarship for Breast Cancer Research at the NBCRI with €2 from each box going to help fund the scholarship.

This month’s box is bursting at the seams, I will be using literally everything in this month’s box which can be hard to come by with some otherr beauty boxes.

To start we have the Yonka Lait Nettoyant Cleansing milk. This cleanser is for all skin types and will remove makeup from your face in a single wipe, at least that’s what it says on the box. This is a travel size which is really handy because I always find it difficult to decide which makeup remover to bring away with me. I love Yonka products and can’t wait to try this cleanser out. Full sized price is €30.00, the travel size works out at €4.50.

NYX came to Ireland this year, I have yet to go buy anything in stores that sell it here but I did pick up some of their makeup when I was in America. I already have 3 of their Power Blushes but luckily I didn’t get this colour. In the box I received the shade Rose Garden, it a lovely sparkly pink and retails for €7.49.

A big favourite of mine are the Wet N Wild Mega Last lipsticks. I have so many of these lippies and I love them, they last for ever on your lips, for me these are rivals for the MAC matte lipsticks. They cost €2.99 and can be found in all good Penneys and Dunnes. The colour that came in my box was Think Pink, which is very apt for Breast Cancer Awareness month. Luckily again this is a colour that I don’t have in my collection.

I’ve tried a few of these exfoliating foot masks out before, I love using them. It can be a bit gross when your skin starts to come off but they are left baby soft when the treatment is finished so it is worth a few days of shedding skin like a snake. The box contains the Purederm Botanical Choice Exfoliating Foot Mask, I don’t think I’ve tried this brand yet.  These masks retail for €3.99.

Another handy travel sized product in the box is the Roger & Gallet Bois d’Oranged Perfumed Moisturising Sorbet Body Lotion. I don’t think I have tried this brand before but I have heard many good things. I think I will be popping this in my hand bag for on the go moisture, especially during these winter months when the dry air from all the heaters leave me like a shrivelled prune. The full price costs €15.00, the travel size works out at €3.75.

The full box works out at €22.72, it’s probably one of the best boxes I’ve received from them as I’ll be using everything in the box and there is the added bonus of €2 from each box going to such a good cause.

If you’re thinking of joining the Chic Treat Club subscription service go check them out here.

American Drugstore Haul

Some of my favourite YouTube videos to watch are Drugstore Hauls so I had a good idea of what was popular over in the States before I left for Florida. My main aim while I was there was to buy makeup that you can’t get in Ireland or makeup that was much cheaper than at home and I think I achieved that goal!

I made a drugstore wish list before I left and stayed pretty close to it, I don’t think I deviated too much. I bought my makeup in Target, Wallmart and CVS. I went into Wallgreens but it their prices were too high compared to the others. If you’re ever in the States then it’s really good to shop around as prices unlike Ireland can differ pretty dramatically from store to store.

I won’t be going into detail with everything as I will be doing individual posts in the coming weeks.

To start I bought some EOS lip balms and a hand cream. You can get these in Ireland in Harvey Nichols for around €6.00 but I got mine for $2.99 which is €2.40 so I bought 3 and a hand cream. They have a new flavour out in Coconut Milk which I bought as well as Summer Fruit and Pomegranate Raspberry. I love these, they’re just so moisturising and yummy.

I then went slightly bat shit crazy when I found the Milani stands in Walmart and CVS. We don’t get Milani here in Ireland but they are a very affordable makeup brand with some amazing quality shadows and blushes. The shadows I bought are from their new Bella range, which are a gel powder formula and are highly pigmented. I’ve only tested them out on the back of my hand so I’ll be excited to sit down and try different looks on myself. I’ve tried one blush and it’s pretty amazing, one little swipe of your brush and you have hell of a lot of product on it, I’m so impressed. I wish I could have gotten more but the shelves weren’t stocked very well in either stores but I think my boyfriend would have killed me if I got anymore.

I picked up some Maybelline pieces too. I love their 24 hour tattoo range so I got some pigments and a cream shadow, I also got their The Nudes palette which you can’t get here at all and the Eye Studio Color Plush Silk Eyeshadow quad in Copper Chic. I haven’t used any of these yet so I can’t tell you what I think but keep an eye out in the future for some reviews on them.

NYX recently came to Ireland within the last year but I haven’t been able to get near a store that sells it. I could have bought the whole stand when I was in Target but I managed to rein myself in and only get a few pieces. I had watched Sinead from The Beautiful Truth and her American haul before I left and fell in love when I saw her NYX blue liner so I had to pop one in the basket. Again I haven’t opened any of the products and the stores in America usually don’t have testers so you just have to hope you’ve picked a good colour.

You can get Wet N Wild everywhere in Ireland now so I was only on the lookout if they had anything that I couldn’t get here, they didn’t have anything that caught my eye but they did have the single eyeshadows for only .94 cent which is so cheap when they’re basically €2 each here. They only had 3 colours left unfortunately but I will get use out of them.

This is another recommendation from The Beautiful Truth who raves about it. It’s an eye liner that also helps boost your lashes which is always a bonus. I’m not the best when it comes to putting on my liner so hopefully I’ll have good luck with this one.

Noting really caught my eye in L’Oreal but I did pick up a lip crayon that I don’t think is available in Ireland and one of their Infallible shadows. I’ve never used the shadows but I’ve heard amazing things about them that I’m sure I’ll love it.

I also picked up some of the Revlon Colourstay foundations that I wear all the time. I love this makeup but its €17.79 in Boots so when I saw that it was $9.98 in Walmart I was all over it. I bought the shade Buff and Sand Beige. I was Buff before I left so I bought Sand Beige the next colour up so I’d have a darker colour for when I came back but that’s a little too pale for me know as well but I’m sure by Christmas I’ll be back to my pale self.

Finally I got this Burt’s Bees’ Lip Crayon, I just like the colour so it got thrown in the basket.

That’s all the drugstore makeup I bought, if I didn’t have my boyfriend giving me the stink eye I probably and most likely have bought an awful lot more.

Do you think I missed out on anything? Leave a comment below.

Dupe Tuesday | MAC Vs Wet N Wild

Welcome back to Dupe Tuesday, if you don’t know by now every Tuesday I will bring a drugstore product that gives the exact same result as a high-end one.

This week it’s the battle of the lipsticks.
I have two favourite lip brands – MAC and Wet N Wild. I have only discovered the Wet N Wild lipsticks in the last few months as they have only arrived in Ireland since the start of the year and I have bought a good few on their Megalast lipsticks which are my favourite out of all their lipsticks.

I don’t love a high shine lip as I think they make my lips look even bigger than they already are so I tend to go for a more matte lippy which the Megalast ones are. The good thing about these is that they stay on for longer and even after it’s warn off they still leave a bit of a tint.

With the MAC lipsticks they can go from real creamy to matte so there’s a good chance I’ll find a lipstick that will be what I’m looking for.

I also love a dark lipstick, even though I’m blonde and probably should be wearing lighter pinkier colours I live for dark plums and reds.

Now when I discovered Rebel by MAC I thought that it was the most perfect colour, a deep plum and it lasted forever on the lips. I thought I had found my Holy Grail lipstick, but at €19.00 a pop those lipsticks don’t come cheap.

But why spend €19.00 when you can spend €2.99 on the Wet N Wild Megalast in Sugar Plum Fairy. It is literally the exact same colour as Rebel and stays on for just as long if not better! I had to really think about which colour was which when I had swiped them on my arm as they are so alike.
Rebel on the Left, Sugar Plum Fairy on the Right
I’ve rambled on a bit here but you just have to look at the swatches to see that these are pretty much the exact same colours.

That’s it for this week’s Dupe Tuesday tune in for next week’s where I will have a dupe of the Naked 3 palette for a 10th of the price!

Have a great sunny week.

April Favourites

Well it's half way through the month so I suppose you could say I’m a bit late with this one but here are my April favourites (about time says you!)

I'm going to start off with the first product I have ever bought from Wet n Wild! They were only introduced to us in Ireland at the start of the year and every time I went to buy something from the stands in Pennys they had swarms of girls around them, it wasn't until I went to a Wet n Wild bloggers brunch a few weeks ago that I went out and bought this lipstick (I figured I better be wearing something from the line if I’m going to an event), it’s their Megalast Lipcolor and they are a matte lipstick and stay on for so long.
I'll be doing a review on these lipsticks soon enough so I won't mention too much on them other than the fact that the colour stays on for so long and that I have been wearing this colour for most of last month. I bought mine in 907c Mauve Outta Here, It's a lovely pinkie berry colour and even though its spring time I love darker tones.

Wet n Wild Mega Last Lip Color

I was queuing up in Boots in Jervis Centre one day and they had a little box of Benefit samples for €12. I love getting little sample sized products, for one, I love to use these when I’m going on holidays and two because I have never used the Benefit Porefessional *covers face in shame*.

Benefit Stay Don't Stray

Out of the little box I have been using the Stay Don't Stray and the Porefessional most. The stay don't stray is a primer for concealer and eye shadow. I've been loving this for my dark circles and blemishes, it's a coloured primer with such a great coverage and colour that I've been using it as a concealer under my foundation.
Benefit Porefessional

I've been using the Porefessional everyday now and I will most definitely be going out to buy the larger tubes. I have terrible oily skin so my pores are gigantic, the Porefessional fills in every pore and doesn't clog them. It is going to become one of my staple makeup bag pieces!

Soap and Glory Smooch Operator

I have had this bad boy at my desk since Christmas and use it every now and then, but it the last few weeks my lips have been getting chapped really so I popped this beauty on my lips and the hard skin instantly melted away and I had the softest moistest lips, I am using this daily now and my lips are thanking me.

Clinique Cheek Pop Blush in Plum Pop
Every blogger and their mother have this blusher by now, I got mine in March but have been using it nearly everyday in April. I got mine in Plum Pop. I love this colour, its a bright pink but goes on sheer and is build-able if you want a a stronger colour. They are €20 dollars each and I would have bought more but this is the last one they had in the store and I haven't seen them in any other clinique counter.

Plum Pop

Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Dark
And finally we have the holy grail in tanning, I love love love Cocoa Brown. The new darker shade is my favourite colour, it has everything you want in a tan. If you've been living under a rock and you have never heard of Cocoa Brown or have never bought a bottle then I implore you to go out and buy has many as you can! I love this so much I don't think I'd buy another brand in my life!!

So that's my very very late April faves! Enjoy this amazing day and remember to put some SPF on cos no one likes to look like a lobster :)
