Why So Winey?? - My Favourite wine lips and nails

Halloween maybe over but that’s no reason to give up the vampy look. If you’re a regular reader of my posts than you have you already know that I love dark reds and burgundy colours and it wasn’t till I was gathering all my favourite lipsticks and nail polishes that I realised that I have an awful lot of them and a lot of the same colour. My addiction has led to a constant battle to find the perfect shade of wine, I don’t think I’m even close to it which is most worrying.

Black Cherry
VaVa Violet

When it comes to autumn and winter I live for dark lips and nails, keep reading to find out some of my favourites.
I’ll start with the lips, a lot of these are super affordable and can be found in most drugstores apart from one or two.
Starting with 2 from the Revlon Super Lustrous collection we have Black Cherry and Va Va Violet. These are €10.69 each in Boots. The Black Cherry looks a bit brown from the photo but it is a proper wine colour in person, the Va Va Violet is more on the purple side of wine, this one is definitely vampier. They look like the exact same colour on screen but they are completely different.

Fusion

My posts wouldn’t be complete these days if it didn’t include Makeup Revolution and they do some amazing colours ranging from £1 - £3. This is from their matte lipstick collection in the colour Fusion. It looks like it will be super dark but it comes of more of a dark pink.

Vamp

Fuschia Makeup up next with their Classic Matte lipstick in Vamp, this is a red toned wine and is long wearing. You can get this for €13.50 at their stores in Swords and Drogheda.

I adore the Penneys PS Love Beauty range. I love this purple colour, they don’t have names on them but I think it’s still available in stores. This is an iridescent purple and costs €1.50.

The next two are from my American trip.

After Dark

The new Smashbox Be Legendary Long Wear Lip Lacquer in After Dark is becoming a regular on my lips these days. These are €24, I think I paid about the same amount in dollars so I got it for a tiny bit cheaper. It’s a brown hued purple, that lasts for ages and it’s glossy without being sticky.

Truffle

The final lip colour is from Bite Beauty. I wish I had got more of these colours as you can’t order them online anywhere other than Sephora which you can’t get delivered to Ireland so think I’ll just have to go back to the states because anything I have from Bite is just amazing. This is a Matte Crème Lip Crayon, when I think of vampy wines this is the colour I think of, it’s just perfect. The colour is in Truffle and cost $24.

Onto nails and I’m just going to blitz through these ones.

Revlon Perfumeries in Bordeaux, smells like a sweet berry - €8.99
Nails Inc. in Victoria, love this colour, it’s a proper dark blood wine colour - €16.75
Max Factor Gel Shine Lacquer in Sheen Merlot, new to my collection and I love it - €8.99
Tanya Burr in Riding Hood, this is a high gloss true red, not a wine but still a fave of mine - €6.49

Nails Inc. in The Vale, a dark plum colour - €16.75
Collection Lasting Gel Colour in Vixen Red, my favourite gel nail polish and most affordable - €3.99
Formula X in Ignite, this comes out darker than it looks and last for ages. I’ll be stocking up on these next time I’m in America - $10.50
Rimmel 60 Seconds x Rita Ora in Rita Rouge. Love these polishes and this colour is a lovely dark wine - €3.99

When I’m not in the wine mood but still want something wintery and dark I go for the following colours.

Wet N Wild Mega Rocks in Jam Session, it’s great on its own or on top of any colour to give it a sparkle – I think these are around €2.99
Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polishes in Chilli, a great autumnal terracotta colour- €5.99
Tanya Burr in Midnight Sparkles, a sparkly purple - €6.49
Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer in Genius in the bottle, I think this was in a special collection but I love the metallic colours - €3.99 I think.
NYC Expert Last polish in Money Never Sleeps, a gorgeous metallic dark green – again I can’t remember the price but definitely under €4.

The sad thing is that this is that I haven’t showed you all of my favourite colours there are still plenty of others in my collection and it’s still growing.

Thanks for reading.

Autumn/Winter Wishlist

Summer is over and autumn is finally in full swing which means new makeup on the stands and new clothes in the shops.
Autumn and winter are one of my favourite times of year. I love how everything gets cosy and the dark vampy colours that are everywhere.

Since coming back from my holidays I’ve had to tighten the purse strings and I’ve been put on a spending ban by my boyfriend. I’ve been doing fine but this week with the weather taking a turn and Halloween coming up, as well as the accumulation of new makeup launches I have just wanted to buy everything.

I’ve compiled a list of the items I’m lusting after most, some of which I want straight away and some that can hold off till at least Christmas.

Starting of my lustful list is Nars, they have released some amazing pieces recently and I can’t wait to get my hands on their new Audacious lipsticks. Firstly the packaging is so sleek. They’re magnetic so they stick together and they also have Nars written around it so if you have 3 lipsticks lined up they spell out Nars. These will set you back €30 each which is pretty steep and I know I’ll want to get 3 of them to get them to spell out Nars.

Another one from Nars is The Nars Vault, a limited edition lipstick and nail polish set. You get 10 lipsticks and 10 polishes and hold on to your hats girls because it will cost a whopping €390!!! I’ve heard they only have 4 in Brown Thomas, they’d make a great Christmas present for a makeup addict like myself but I doubt my fella will be forking out for one of these.

Another makeup brand that has brought out some amazing products is Charlotte Tilbury. She has created makeup to go with 10 different looks. My favourite is the Vintage Vamp collection. Among it is the Vintage Vamp luxury palette (€50), it’s a quad shadow palette with gorgeous golds and wine colours. The lipstick (€30) in Night Crimson is an amazing vampy wine colour, my all-time favourite shade. This is definitely a brand I could fall in love with.
It wouldn’t be winter without a new coat. I’m going to hold off and lose a bit of weight and till it gets that little bit colder before I buy a new one but I definitely have my eye on one or two already. The River Island brown leather trench coat (€120) is on my radar, I’ve only seen it online but I’ve been reassured by my friend that it is just as nice in person. It has a detachable fur collar which I could take or leave but overall it’s just gorgeous and it kind of reminds me a spy would wear I’m not sure why that makes a difference but it makes me want it. I also love this Zara wool camel coat, it’s a bit light for winter but it looks very cosy. It costs a whopping €159 so I don’t know if I will buy this one however if I can find one cheaper and similar I might get it.
Finally on my list is the L’essence perfume by Balenciaga. It’s my all-time favourite perfume and when I was on my travels I tried every duty free and beauty store and couldn’t find it. It was in Dublin Airport but I figured it would be cheaper abroad but I couldn’t get my hands on it at all. It’s an expensive enough perfume at €85-€100 depending what size you get. At the moment it’s pretty much sold out everywhere so I’m not sure if it’s being discontinued or not, fingers crossed it isn’t and I can treat myself to a bottle before Christmas.

What do you guys have your eyes on? Is there anything that you would add to my list? Let me know J

Thanks for reading.

Vamp Up Your Lips With Makeup Revolution

Since I heard about Makeup Revolution I have been super obsessed with their products. They are so affordable and have some great dupes for some big brands like Urban Decay and their Naked Palettes. I had recently discovered that their Velvet Matte Lip Lacquers are great dupes for the Lime Crime Velvetine lip lacquers.

They have recently released new colours and they are perfect for the coming winter and most importantly for Halloween.

The colours are:

Depravity (Purple)

Rebel (Pinky Red)

Vamp (Deep Dark Purple)

Black Heart (Pure Black)

The colours are so pigmented and last for such a long time. When applied they dry pretty quickly onto the lips and don’t bleed. They’re not the type of lippies that can just be thrown on, as they’re so pigmented you do need to take your time when applying them.

I will definitely be wearing these at some stage over the next few months. They aren’t the most day time friendly colours but I think I’ll get some wear out of them. The colour Depravity I think is my favourite, I’ve never worn a colour like this and I think it actually suits me.

These lip lacquers are such a bargain at only £3.00/€3.59.

If you want to find out more head over to Makeup Revolution, I’m sure you’ll love their site as much as I do.
