September Wishlist

I am the poorest I have been in an awfully long time, all the “yolo” spending I’ve been doing has seemed to catch up with me so until I get paid and save up again I will be doing some serious ogling and with all the new season launches happening at the moment I will be doing an feck load of ogling.

I’ve a mix of things that have been on my radar, some reasonable in price and others I know that the closest I’m going to get to it is touching this screen.

Starting with the Stun Hun mug from Aoife Dooley. You might have seen her illo’s doing the rounds on social media and if you haven’t you need to check them out they’re hilarious. This mug is €11.95 and on the more reasonable side of my budget. There’s more in the collection but the Stun Hun mug is going to be winging its way to me next pay day.

I still don’t think I’m fully over how amazing the Becca X Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop highlighter is and I think it will be pretty hard for anything that comes across my lap to beat it. However saying all that I really want the new Anastasia Beverly Hills Highlighters. If you’re a regular reader to Beauty Blunders you will know just how much I love this brand and you should bet your bottom dollar that if you’ve seen any of the Kardashians highlight over the last few months they will have been wearing one of the highlighters from the collection. The best thing is that they are now available on CultBeauty at £28 (about €35). This one is still within budget but I’ll have to look at some reviews before I do decide to buy it. How gorge is the packing though, I love the art deco styling.

A new launch from Charlotte Tilbury with her new Magic Foundation available exclusively in Brown Thomas. I love a good full coverage foundation as I have a few scars and redness I like to cover up. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on this one so before I hand over €40 I will be going in to get some samples. I’ve yet to get anything from Charlotte Tilbury, I want an amount of products but unfortunately it’s always been out of my budget.

If you follow me on any of my social media accounts you will know that I’ve had my eye on the Louboutin Lipsticks since the pictures where first released. I bought the Louboutin Rouge varnish last year and at €45 everyone thought I was insane to spend that much and I even used a €20 BTs voucher and still got mad looks for spending that much on a varnish. So when I found out that the lipsticks where going to be £60 which is roughly €90 I really got lambasted for wanting it. Even at €90 I still want it, I know it’s an insane price but when you think about it it’s an awful lot cheaper than a pair of Louboutin shoes so when you think about it that way it’s a bargain (you can see my way of thinking when it comes to justifying buying any beauty products). So I might not get this right away, maybe I’ll wait till Christmas as I usually get a Brown Thomas voucher off someone but we’ll see.

Finally from The Balm we have The Manizer Sisters a trio palette of the Betty Lou-Manizer, Mary Lou-Manizer and the Cindy Lou-Manizer. I haven’t found a site or place that sells it yet but its $28.00, so will probably work out at around €25.00 - €30.00. I keep going to buy the Mary Lou-Manizer but never get round to it but I think I’d prefer to have the little trio pack especially as it will be nearly the same for one as it is for the little trio.

So there you have my list of wants, I’m sure I’ll be adding to it but for the moment I am coveting all of these beauties.

Flormar - The affordable makeup brand you need in your life

Last month I went to a blogger showcase of the makeup brand Flormar. A few years back they had started to be stocked in Ireland but soon disappeared. They’ve been picked up again and the brand is being stocked all over Ireland, with new stockists popping up every couple of weeks.

At the showcase we were given demos of some of their star products and where lucky enough to take a bag away with us to test some of them out.

I have to say I’m super impressed by this brand and so excited to see what’s in store for them in the coming months. The prices of their products range from €2.95-€12.95 and there is so much to choose from.

Here’s a few of their star products that you should be keeping an eye out for:

Flormar Colour Palette Eye Shadow (rrp€9.95)

This palette is just gorgeous and come in a few different colours. The palette I have contains 5 matte shadows and for 9.95 I’m super impressed. They are super pigmented, they last all day with no creasing at all and blend seamlessly into the lid. I like to smoke these colours into my crease and add a bit of gel liner to give it a bit of extra pop. Absolutely gorgeous!!

COMPLEXION PERFECTION with Flormar Illuminating Primer (rrp €9.95) 

This was featured in my July favourites and it still is a favourite. I’ve been wearing it every day under my foundation and I’m really enjoying. It keeps my makeup on all day from 7am till the time I go to bed. It mattify the skin on application but doesn’t give the foundation a dried matte finish.

FLORMAR BRONZING POWDER FACE & BODY (rrp €9.95)

I thought I wasn’t going to like this when I first saw it as it looked shimmery in the pan but this goes on gorgeously. It’s a matte and the muted bronze colour is perfect for pale Irish skin tones. I don’t use it to contour but I do use it as a bronzer around my forehead and my cheeks to give me a summer glow. The pan is also huge so you get an awful lot of product for such a great price.

FLORMAR’S REVOLUTION LIPSTICK (RRP €6.95)

These are great lipsticks, firstly the packaging is just gorgeous and secondly they’re super pigmented. I have the colour Provocative Orange which is a pretty bold colour but again if you’re a pale girl like me and in fact I think any skin tone could rock this colour but it really suits pale skin tones. I will definitely be picking up a few more of these lipsticks.

FLORMAR JELLY LOOK NAIL ENAMEL (RRP €2.95- €4.95)

I’m beyond excited about these nail polishes. At the moment there will be about 100 colours available in Ireland and if they open their store in Ireland you could possibly be looking at over 1000 colours! I tried the Jelly Look polish in Turquoise Green. So pigmented, one coat would do but for real opaqueness two coats is perfect. I love the brush on this it makes the application very quick and easy and the drying time is very quick, after 10 minutes it was 100% dry.

So these are my favourite bits from Flormar, keep an eye out for them in your local pharmacy and pick some bits up, with a price range of €2.95-€12.95 it would be rude not to pick a few bits up.

I Choo Choo Choose You - Valentines Day Makeup

 With Valentine’s Day tomorrow I thought I’d put together a little post for you guys. Valentine’s Day is probably one of my favourite days of the year, even though my boyfriend and I don’t do anything over the top. We’ve been 9 years together so we’re over the need to have big over the top presents, instead we opt for a more low key option and this year I’ll be cooking his favourite meal and watching Sopranos.

Even though we’ll be having a laid back evening I’ll still want to look good, so this is the look I’ll be going for. I like to think of it as soft glamour. I’ve gone for a smoky eye and red lip but have cut out the heavy contouring that I would usually do for a special occasion, I’ve also used a very sheer foundation.

For the foundation I used Rimmel BB Matte cream in light and just applied it with my hands.

While I wasn’t properly contouring I still wanted my skin to look bright and glowing so I used the MaybellineInstant Anti-Age Eraser. I applied it under my eyes, the centre of my nose, chin and forehead and blended it into my skin with a beauty blender.

For the eyes I used my new Jaclyn Hill Favourites palette – I used matte brown shades on the crease, metallic light gold and copper on the lid. You could really use any type of shadows, I’ve been loving the new YSL palette and Wet N Wild have some great smoky eye palettes too.

I'm absolutely cack when it comes to my wing, it turned out just about ok for the pictures, I had to clean it up with concealer but it worked out ok in the end. I started to use the Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama gel liner but it wasn’t working for me so I switched over to the Stilla Stay All Day Liquid Liner which I have been loving recently. After that I applied some Ardell lashes, I don’t have the packaging of them anymore so I’m not sure which type they are but they wing out more at the end which I love in a lash. For mascara I used the Maxfactor Masterpiece Glamour Extensions mascara (not out till March) and the for Kohl liner I used my Buxom Hold the Line Liner.

To powder I used the Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder. I put a light amount of the Soap and Glory Solar Powder Bronzer and on the cheeks I used my new favourite blush the Maxfactor Crème Puff Blush in Nude Mauve. As it’s a special occasion it’s only right to use my special occasion highlighter, the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector pressedpowder in Opal.

For lips I lined them with the red lip liner from Penneys (only €1.50), and popped over my favourite red the Kate Moss matte in 107. I popped some of the highlighter on my cupids bow and in the centre of my lips I used the Smashbox Be Legendary gloss in Pout. Probably not the best option if you think you’ll be smooching your fella all night so maybe go for a nude or a long lasting matte red.

It’s a simple look and even though its glam it’s not too over the top and if I believe what my Boyfriend says than guys don’t like a face full of make up so I think this is just perfect.

Autumn/Winter Wishlist

Summer is over and autumn is finally in full swing which means new makeup on the stands and new clothes in the shops.

Autumn and winter are one of my favourite times of year. I love how everything gets cosy and the dark vampy colours that are everywhere.

Since coming back from my holidays I’ve had to tighten the purse strings and I’ve been put on a spending ban by my boyfriend. I’ve been doing fine but this week with the weather taking a turn and Halloween coming up, as well as the accumulation of new makeup launches I have just wanted to buy everything.

I’ve compiled a list of the items I’m lusting after most, some of which I want straight away and some that can hold off till at least Christmas.

Starting of my lustful list is Nars, they have released some amazing pieces recently and I can’t wait to get my hands on their new Audacious lipsticks. Firstly the packaging is so sleek. They’re magnetic so they stick together and they also have Nars written around it so if you have 3 lipsticks lined up they spell out Nars. These will set you back €30 each which is pretty steep and I know I’ll want to get 3 of them to get them to spell out Nars.

Another one from Nars is The Nars Vault, a limited edition lipstick and nail polish set. You get 10 lipsticks and 10 polishes and hold on to your hats girls because it will cost a whopping €390!!! I’ve heard they only have 4 in Brown Thomas, they’d make a great Christmas present for a makeup addict like myself but I doubt my fella will be forking out for one of these.

Another makeup brand that has brought out some amazing products is Charlotte Tilbury. She has created makeup to go with 10 different looks. My favourite is the Vintage Vamp collection. Among it is the Vintage Vamp luxury palette (€50), it’s a quad shadow palette with gorgeous golds and wine colours. The lipstick (€30) in Night Crimson is an amazing vampy wine colour, my all-time favourite shade. This is definitely a brand I could fall in love with.

It wouldn’t be winter without a new coat. I’m going to hold off and lose a bit of weight and till it gets that little bit colder before I buy a new one but I definitely have my eye on one or two already. The River Island brown leather trench coat (€120) is on my radar, I’ve only seen it online but I’ve been reassured by my friend that it is just as nice in person. It has a detachable fur collar which I could take or leave but overall it’s just gorgeous and it kind of reminds me a spy would wear I’m not sure why that makes a difference but it makes me want it. I also love this Zara wool camel coat, it’s a bit light for winter but it looks very cosy. It costs a whopping €159 so I don’t know if I will buy this one however if I can find one cheaper and similar I might get it.

Finally on my list is the L’essence perfume by Balenciaga. It’s my all-time favourite perfume and when I was on my travels I tried every duty free and beauty store and couldn’t find it. It was in Dublin Airport but I figured it would be cheaper abroad but I couldn’t get my hands on it at all. It’s an expensive enough perfume at €85-€100 depending what size you get. At the moment it’s pretty much sold out everywhere so I’m not sure if it’s being discontinued or not, fingers crossed it isn’t and I can treat myself to a bottle before Christmas.

Halloween Makeup - Easy Leopard Makeup

If you’re looking for a super easy look to do for Halloween then this is the one for you. If you’re in a hurry this leopard makeup look can be done in a few minutes or if you want a bit more detail you can take your time.  

The main items you will need are the following:

A dark shade of foundation

A light shade of foundation

Bronzer

Black Liquid Liner

Black Pencil Liner

Nude lipstick

Metallic eye shadow in – white/cream, light gold, bronze/dark gold

Lashes

Mascara

 Step 1:

Apply the dark foundation around the outer part of your face, the in the middle of your face apply the lighter foundation. I used Buff Foundation for my darker makeup and Revlon Colourstay for my lighter foundation

Step 2:

On your eyes apply the lighter white/cream metallic colour on your brow bone, lighter gold colour on your crease and the darker gold on your lid or whatever way you would like to do a smokey eye. I used some of the colours from my Metallic Madness palette from Crown Brush.

Step 3:

Create a cat eye liner to your eyes. I’m pretty crap at doing this so if you’re like me just take your time and do your best. I used the They’re Real Push Up liner by Benefit to do mine.

Step 4:

Apply pencil liner around your eye and smoke it out with a pencil brush. On your lower lash line add one of the gold colours and blend it together with the liner to smoke out your bottom line.  Once you have your eyes done apply your mascara and your lashes.

Step 5:

To create your leopard nose just take your black liner and draw and fill in the tip of your nose, bringing a line down to your lip and drawing a thin black like at the top of your lip.

Step 6:

Apply nude lipstick to the bottom of your lip then rub them together. Doing this should create an ombre effect to your lips.

Step 7:

Taking more of the gold metallic colour apply some to your temples, around your nose, and around your smile lines. To contour your cheeks just apply under your cheek bone and blend down. With the white metallic colour apply to the top of your lip area, your chin and the middle of your forehead.

Step 8:

To make some whiskers just dot some liquid liner on your top lip. To make some leopard patterns just do some random C shapes in the areas you would like to be patterned with either or both liquid or pencil liner. You can also add some metallic colours to your leopard print; I added some orange and gold colours to mine.

Step 9:

 All that’s left is to touch up with powder and some bronzer if you wish.

My makeup was done in a hurry so if you take your time I’m sure it will look better. In my photos I don’t have any lashes as I couldn’t find and lash glue but try to find some that are winged out on the edges this will enhance your cat eye. Another tip would be to use a liner that is a bit hard; I used one that was very creamy which meant my leopard prints where a bit bigger and messier.

This look is really simple yet effective so if you’re thinking of something last minute without having to go to a costume shop to buy loads of extras this is great as the majority of you guys will have everything you need in your makeup bags.

Inglot Masterclasses

On Sunday I went to the Inglot Pro Store on South Anne Street to a masterclass. They have regular free masterclasses showing how to do different looks you just have to ring them up and book your place. You also get 10% off in the store and if you spend over €30 you get a little gift bag.

It’s a great way of learning new looks without forking over a load of money. The look that we were shown was a winged liner with a twist with some contouring tips too.
