Autumn/Winter Wishlist

Summer is over and autumn is finally in full swing which means new makeup on the stands and new clothes in the shops.
Autumn and winter are one of my favourite times of year. I love how everything gets cosy and the dark vampy colours that are everywhere.

Since coming back from my holidays I’ve had to tighten the purse strings and I’ve been put on a spending ban by my boyfriend. I’ve been doing fine but this week with the weather taking a turn and Halloween coming up, as well as the accumulation of new makeup launches I have just wanted to buy everything.

I’ve compiled a list of the items I’m lusting after most, some of which I want straight away and some that can hold off till at least Christmas.

Starting of my lustful list is Nars, they have released some amazing pieces recently and I can’t wait to get my hands on their new Audacious lipsticks. Firstly the packaging is so sleek. They’re magnetic so they stick together and they also have Nars written around it so if you have 3 lipsticks lined up they spell out Nars. These will set you back €30 each which is pretty steep and I know I’ll want to get 3 of them to get them to spell out Nars.

Another one from Nars is The Nars Vault, a limited edition lipstick and nail polish set. You get 10 lipsticks and 10 polishes and hold on to your hats girls because it will cost a whopping €390!!! I’ve heard they only have 4 in Brown Thomas, they’d make a great Christmas present for a makeup addict like myself but I doubt my fella will be forking out for one of these.

Another makeup brand that has brought out some amazing products is Charlotte Tilbury. She has created makeup to go with 10 different looks. My favourite is the Vintage Vamp collection. Among it is the Vintage Vamp luxury palette (€50), it’s a quad shadow palette with gorgeous golds and wine colours. The lipstick (€30) in Night Crimson is an amazing vampy wine colour, my all-time favourite shade. This is definitely a brand I could fall in love with.
It wouldn’t be winter without a new coat. I’m going to hold off and lose a bit of weight and till it gets that little bit colder before I buy a new one but I definitely have my eye on one or two already. The River Island brown leather trench coat (€120) is on my radar, I’ve only seen it online but I’ve been reassured by my friend that it is just as nice in person. It has a detachable fur collar which I could take or leave but overall it’s just gorgeous and it kind of reminds me a spy would wear I’m not sure why that makes a difference but it makes me want it. I also love this Zara wool camel coat, it’s a bit light for winter but it looks very cosy. It costs a whopping €159 so I don’t know if I will buy this one however if I can find one cheaper and similar I might get it.
Finally on my list is the L’essence perfume by Balenciaga. It’s my all-time favourite perfume and when I was on my travels I tried every duty free and beauty store and couldn’t find it. It was in Dublin Airport but I figured it would be cheaper abroad but I couldn’t get my hands on it at all. It’s an expensive enough perfume at €85-€100 depending what size you get. At the moment it’s pretty much sold out everywhere so I’m not sure if it’s being discontinued or not, fingers crossed it isn’t and I can treat myself to a bottle before Christmas.

What do you guys have your eyes on? Is there anything that you would add to my list? Let me know J

Thanks for reading.

Dupe Tuesday | Moroccan Oil Vs Aldi Miracle Oil

Welcome back to Dupe Tuesday!

This week I’m looking at a hair product that I recently discovered in Aldi! I’m never in Aldi but I’m house sitting for my brother and his local store is an Aldi. I was pottering around one if the days and spotted their Miracle Oil, firstly I thought I had seen a bottle of Moroccan Oil so that’s what peaked my interest. At closer inspection I found it to be very similar looking, it’s a hair oil that promises to “Strengthen, smooth and seal in shine”.

I had never bought a proper bottle of any of the Moroccan or Argan oils but at a beauty show a couple of years ago I was given a good few sample bottles of the Moroccan Oil. I’ve used it on and off when my hair has been looking a bit frizzy or dry and its worked wonders. I never thought I’d buy a proper full bottle of the stuff seeing as its €40 for a bottle, so when I saw this little bottle for only €3.99 I figured it was worth it even if it wasn’t going to work out for me it’s not as if I had just wasted a tonne.

My hair had been drab and dry the last couple of months, I get my hair dyed blonde so the dye does nothing to keep it healthy looking. I’ve used this nearly every time I’ve washed my hair the last 2 weeks, I pop only about 3-4 drops into my palm and rub it all over into the ends of my hair and anything left over I pop all over. I dry my hair normally and the result is the softest hair I think I’ve ever had! It’s so good I haven’t stopped touching my hair and telling others to do so to, and you know it works when your boyfriend even notices!

The great thing about this stuff is that its multifunctional, you can use it as a leave in conditioner if you want a treatment, as a finishing product and as an overnight treatment so you get even more bang for your buck!
I know there’s plenty of oils you can get in the likes of Penny’s/Primark for probably the same price, if not a little cheaper but I definably recommend this stuff. You can’t go wrong with an oil that will give you the same results as the top brand stuff and costing a tenth of the price.

Head down to Aldi today and get the Carino Professional Miracle Oil with argan oil.

Thanks for reading :)

NYC Expert Last Lip Color | Review

If you haven’t copped it already I love my lippy! Every girl needs a bit of lipstick in their lives and for me a bit of lipstick will always make me feel more confident and top a look off.
Anytime I go into Penny’s I always make a b-line for makeup section and always manage to find something to buy and when there is so much choice and such bargains it’s hard not to walk away with bags of makeup.

For the last few weeks I had seen on Instagram a load of posts from a girl who had bought the NYC Expert Last Lip Color lipsticks, the swatches really caught my eye and usually when something catches my eye I have to go straight out and get whatever it is!
When I went to the stand in Penny’s they had some but not all of the collection, I think there are 15-20 colours in total, so I picked four of my favourites. I failed to mention that these lipsticks are €2.49, I’m surprised that I only came away with 4 colours, but it did look like a lot of the colours where very similar.

Red Rapture
Now these guys claim to last up to 6 hours which I think is pushing it, at most I would say 2-4 hours and that’s without doing too much eating or drinking, but when they’re that cheap I don’t think that really matters. The good thing is that they unlike a lot of lipsticks that say that they are long lasting they don’t dry out the lip, they do say that they are moisturising but not totally moisturising.

Purple Crush
On application the colours go on pretty heavy and a lot of the time you have to pat any excess off with some tissue, but I don't like to feel a lot of product on my lips so each to their own, but this works for me.
Air Kiss
The colour payoff is really good for such a cheap product with some of the lipsticks beings just as pigmented as highly coloured as brands like MAC. The only problem I have with them is the smell, it's a sweet berry but it reminds me of the smell from makeup I had when I was a kid.
Blue Rose
I think that I’m a bit late in the game with these ones I think they’ve been out in Ireland for nearly a year but only out in the states a few months, hence my Instagram timeline being filled with swatches from the collection the last few months. Go out and get these guys, especially if you want to try out a few colours this summer that you might not usually try as they are so cheap, if you don't think it works for you its not like you have broken the bank!

Review | Tanya Burr Lip Collection

I promised this post a few weeks ago but better late than never!
Tanya released her lip and nail collection in February and they have been a huge success so far and just this week they were launched into all Superdrug stores.

There are 12 glosses to choose from in the collection:

Smile, Dream, Sparkle
Champagne Toast
First Date
Just Peachy
Afternoon Tea
Chic
Picnic In The Park
Aurora
Exotic Island
Let's Travel The World
 Heart Skipped A Beat
Vampire Kiss

I've only bought 3 but now that they are in stores I might buy a few more especially as it's always a lot harder to judge a product when you’re buying online. I chose Picnic in the Park, Champagne Toast and Vampire Kiss.

All of three of the glosses I bought smell just like strawberry Petits Filous so I presume the rest of the collection will too.

Because I have super red lips naturally Champagne Toast goes on my lips almost like a sheer gloss. It's not like me at all to get any type of nude colours so this was a step out of my comfort zone, but I was happy with the result, probably because my natural lip colour came through.

I love Vampire Kiss, it's my favourite kind of red. It’s a darker tone of red which I love and can be put on lightly or built on to your lips to make them even darker.

Anyone who has bought Tanya's lip glosses most likely has Picnic In the Park in their makeup bags. It's a baby pink and the smell of strawberries really pop with this one. In a lot of Tanya's videos she wears this one so I think this is one of her favourites. Just like Vampire Kiss I chose this colour to match with the nail varnish I bought.

I call these glosses but they aren’t as tacky as most glosses and they feel more like a cream lipstick. They do last a good while and really only disappear when your munching on something.

The colour pay off on Vampire Kiss and Picnic in the Park are amazing for glosses and not sheer at all. I don’t really like sheer glosses, that said I do love the Champagne toast.

So try them out for yourself at your local Superdrug, you can also buy them on Cloud10 Beauty.

Have a great day guys!!
